Obituary for
Kevin M. Hoy
Kevin M. Hoy, 57, and a lifelong resident of Long Branch, passed away suddenly at his favorite place--his summer home in Maine.
Kevin was a 1977 graduate of Long Branch High School. He followed in his father George Hoy's footsteps, and became a professional firefighter for the City of Long Branch, serving for 30 years, before retiring three years ago. In addition, he was an exempt member of the West End Engine Company early in his career. Kevin was a highly decorated fireman, having received the Lifesaving Medal, Medal of Honor, and Medal of Valor, from the City of Long Branch, in addition to being awarded the NJ State FMBA Valor Medal.
Following his career in fire service, Kevin became a Safe School Officer at Lenna Conrow School, Long Branch, where he easily earned the respect and affection of the Administration, Teachers, Students and Parents. Kevin was fiercely dedicated to his family, friends, and fellow firemen, whom affectionately nicknamed him "Pop Pop". But he was a humble man who never wanted recognition for his efforts. In addition to spending time in Maine, Kevin enjoyed Motorcycling, golf and bowling.
He was pre-deceased his mother, Joan Hoy.
Surviving Kevin is his loving wife and children, Karen Perry Hoy, Travis Hoy, Fairfax, VA, Vincent Berardi and Amy Blitz, Manhattan; his father, George Hoy, Belgrade Lakes, Maine; his brother and sister, Robert and his wife Michele Hoy, Belgrade Lakes and Stephanie and her husband Bob Featherstone, Paramus; his brother-in-law, William Epp and Joanne Crader, Wall Twp.; Kevin's nieces and nephews, George, Ashley, Billy, Marybeth, Andrew, Ryan, Christina and Sydney.
